VIETNAM VS CAMBODIA

YEARS: 1975-1979 | DEATHS: 9000

The Khmer Rouge, under Pol Pot, persistently fought the Vietnamese along the Cambodian-Vietnamese border ever since Pol Pot came to power in 1975 to reclaim Kampuchea Krom (a region around the Mekong Delta, now a part of Vietnam) which was once a part of the Khmer Empire. Fire-fights which later enraged Vietnam led to an invasion in 1978-9 pushing the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot to the Thai-Cambodian border ending the Khmer Rouge regime in January 7, 1979.
