UCDP: "During its first three years of existence, the MNLF made a point of being a political underground movement. It took until the fall of 1972 before the group staged its first offensive. The MNLF emphasized that its target was the Filipino government rather than the Christian population, and by 1975 the MNLF was considered a popular revolutionary movement supported by almost all Muslims in the Philippines as well as abroad".
